Remote Access Guide: Connecting to Lab Computers with Splashtop

With Splashtop, you can remotely access lab computers from any computer or mobile device. Simply follow the instructions below.

 

  1. Accept the invitation link sent to you from Splashtop ([email protected])
  2. Sign in using your Otis credentials by selecting Single Sign-On Login. Enter your Otis email address and click "Log In." When prompted, provide your email password to complete the authentication process.

 

  1. After logging in successfully, you should see a list of available classroom computers.

If no computers are visible in the Splashtop Business App, please contact support by emailing [email protected].

  1. Install the Splashtop Business App on the computer(s) or mobile device(s) you plan to use for remote access want to connect from, and log in.
  2. Workstations highlighted in green are available and not currently in use by others. To start using a computer remotely, select an available workstation and click "Connect" or double-click on it.
  3. Log in using your dashboard credentials the same way you would while in front of the computer:

For Students: Your username is your Xnumber.

For Faculty: Your username is usually your email address without "@otis.edu"

  1. Please ensure you properly log out from the workstation when you finish. Simply closing the tab will not log you out.
  2. Once connected remotely, a toolbar will appear at the top with various icons. Below is an explanation of their functions:

 

 

 

 

 

Troubleshooting

 

  1. When remote computer shows as Offline"
    • Select the offline Computer
    • Once selected, look for the gear (information) icon that appears in the highlighted area.
    • Click the "Wake up" button to make it active again.

 

  1. For Mac Users - Setting Up Full Disk Access: To ensure Splashtop Business works properly on your Mac, you'll need to configure the appropriate permissions
    • Open System Settings
    • then go to Privacy & Security. From there, find and select Full Disk Access, and grant the necessary permissions to Splashtop Business.
