The print Booklet feature in Adobe InDesign enables the generation of printer spreads for printing. For instance, when working on an 8-page booklet, the pages are initially displayed in sequence within the Adobe InDesign layout window. Yet, in printer spreads, page 1 is positioned next to page 8, and page 2 is positioned next to page 7, maintaining this pattern. This setup guarantees that when the paired pages are printed on a single sheet, folded, and collated, the pages align in the correct order
While pages are displayed sequentially in the layout window, they are printed in a different order to ensure they appear correctly when folded and bound.
NOTE:
- If this is your first time printing a booklet, please reach out to your instructor for a demonstration
- The total number of pages should be divisible by four ( Example 4, 8, 12 etc )
- All pages must be the same size.
- Choose File > Print Booklet
- If you don’t want the entire document printed, select Range in the Setup area and specify which pages to include.
Use hyphens to separate consecutive page numbers and commas for nonadjacent page numbers. For example, typing 3-7, 16 imposes pages 3 through 7 and 16.
- To change settings such as printer’s marks and color output, click Print Settings. Using the options on the left, change settings as needed, and then click OK.
