Student Technician Support: Roles & Responsibilities

Student Technicians support the daily operations of computer labs and classrooms by providing basic technical assistance to students and faculty. They help with setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting hardware and software to ensure the smooth operation of lab equipment and technology. Additionally, Student Techs assist at the Help Desk by responding to service requests, managing equipment checkouts, and enforcing lab policies and procedures.
 

 

Scope of Support

While Student Technicians can independently resolve many common technical issues, their capabilities are limited compared to full-time IT staff. Any request beyond their scope will be promptly escalated to the Otis IT Team through the HelpDesk ticket system.
