How to Turn off Find My and remove Activation lock

Before returning your Mac laptop or desktop to OTIS IT at the end of your employment, please ensure you sign out of iCloud and turn off Find My.

When you turn off Find My on your Mac, Activation Lock is automatically removed.

 

To turn off Find My on a Mac

 

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click your name at the top of the sidebar.

  1. Click iCloud, then do one of the following:
    • macOS Sequoia or later: Next to Saved to iCloud, click See All, click Find My Mac, then click Turn Off.
    • macOS 14 or earlier: Click Find My Mac, then click Turn Off next to Find My Mac
