UCx SMS/MMS Upgrade

A better messaging experience is on the way!

We’re upgrading UCx SMS with new features that give you more control, more convenience, and more ways to connect. This enhanced experience introduces a new embedded app for both Webex and Microsoft Teams along with several new messaging capabilities that make everyday communication easier.

You won’t lose any of your existing message history. Your existing messages will remain available in Webex and those conversations will also be available in the new app. New conversations will automatically use the upgraded experience.

What's New

The upgraded messaging experience includes several improvements designed to support how your teams communicate:

  • MMS and group messaging
  • Scheduled messages
  • Message broadcasts & templates
  • Faster delivery and improved reliability
  • A new embedded app for Webex
  • UCx SMS/MMS is now available for MS Teams

What to Expect

On December 16, you’ll receive an activation email with a setup link for the new embedded app. Once activated, your SMS services will continue in the upgraded environment. All existing conversations will remain visible in Webex, and new messages will be sent and received through the new platform.

Your upgrade took place on December 16, 2025, during a maintenance window between 4:00 AM and 7:00 AM Eastern. You may have experienced a brief interruption in SMS availability during this time.

After the upgrade, you may want to confirm:

  • The embedded SMS app is activated in Webex
  • Your SMS enabled numbers appear correctly
  • Any internal workflows or documentation reflect the new tools
